In The Service

This is a picture of John taken the day he completed his Advanced Skills training at Hurlburt Field in Floriday. This concluded about 2 years of training to be a Combat Controller. Following that, he was assigned to McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington.
John left on his first deployment in late September 09. And, on this particular deployment, we have been lucky enough to be in pretty good contact with John. We are grateful for that, knowing that every assignment might not go quite that way.
John's assignment on this deployment is with a survey team.

A friend of his described this as the "pimped out polaris" !
While on deployment, a friend of his, Garrett Thompsen, from Lakeport, caught up with John for a little visit. Garrett is in Security Forces of the Air Force and enlisted a year before John did.
Some of his teammates...John sent me a message with this picture - "see Mom, I do wear my helmet and protective gear" !
December 09 - Trent Joy, here to John's left went thru cross training to become a Combat Controller and was a part of the Combat Control School in North Carolina when John was there, earning their Scarlet Berets together.
The title of this picture as John posted it was "Santa's Security Detail".
