Helping Katherine Decorate - Thanksgiving Weekend 2009

It's been my "tradition" the last couple of years to spend Thanksgiving weekend with my good friend Katherine Lancina in Santa Rosa - since our family has not been together for the holiday. I have gone down on Thanksgiving Day in the evening and help Katherine get her tree into the house and assembled, and bring the decoration boxes in for her. Then on the day after Thanksgiving I leave bright and early for the early Christmas shopping specials and she starts on the decorating. It's become a very fun tradition for us. This year we enjoyed wonderful dinner together also with her step-daughter and her son and another friend of Katherine's.
This is the dining room table all decked out. The pictures don't really do this justice.
The family room mantel was done a little bit differently this year - notice the lights in the logs !

I think this turned out beautifully against the mirrored background -- you see double the amount of candles that is actually up there.

The table in front of the family room window that overlooks the backyard.
This is the half wall that separates the living room and family room near the entry of the house. It is full of beautiful crystal, gold ornaments, gold ribbons and lots of sparkly gold "greenery".
The entry way table is completed with lots of red and gold delights.
Katherine has a beautifl collection of dolls - a collection started by her mother. This particular one sits at the entry way table on this little antique chair and is dressed in Christmas finery for the season. She even has a little mink hat to wear for the occasion !
Katherine gave me free rein with this little corner table at the front door -so that was fun for me.
Notice this little Rudolph sitting as sentry there -- I actually painted this piece for Katherine many years ago and she graciously has it out every year !!
Here we are at the tree after everything is all put together !! I am always amazed at how beautiful Katherine's tree is. I once even begged her to come over to my house (when she lived up at the lake and we lived nearby each other) to help me put the lights on my tree !! That goes back to Lee's first Christmas. Our tree was especially beautiful that year. I love being invinted to help Katherine with this task these past couple of years and hope I get to do it for many more - I've learned lots and lots of decorating tricks from this talented lady !
