The reception was held in Scotts Valley here in Lake County at the home of some church friends, Guy and Kim Tipton who graciously opened up their front lawn area for the day. The grounds were just beautiful and if we had simply just set up tables and chairs, the setting would have been gorgeous. You can tell Kim and Guy love their home and enjoy spending lots of time outdoors.
Haley and Ryan were sealed earlier in the Oakland Temple and then returned to Lakeport for the ring ceremony and reception. Here they are during the ring ceremony. They gave a really cute recitation about what their rings look like and how they were chosen and what the rings symbolize to them. They are such a cute young couple and they both wore huge smiles the entire time.
Isn't this setting just beautiful among the Lake County pears. The Tiptons took out a large pear orchard here in the front of their house, but left a few around the perimeter of the area. I just love this shot of one of the guest tables.
Haley saw this idea at a friend's wedding in Utah and wanted to encorporate it into her reception. We found these really cute white heart tins and the guests were able to fill their own tin with jelly beans for a wedding favor to keep. Isn't that a cute idea ! (Haley was fortunate that Katherine had given me this apothecary jar for my birthday !)
This is one of the guest tables - the chairs were added after the ring ceremony when the guest moved from that area of the lawn. I stitched the yellow scarf for the table - which we pinned to the white tablecloths so that the wind wouldn't blow them up. I brought several of these silk wine-leaf garlands from home and they looked beautiful against the yellow scarfs. There are blue glass "rocks" scattered on the cloth that may be hard to see in the picture.
The bridal table looked really nice with just the white cloth, a garland of yellow flowers and the candle holders. Tina, Haley's mom, provided the Mr. and Mrs. lettering to add to this table - it was a really cute touch - the "and" is a heart with Cole written in it....to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Cole...
The guest tables were pretty simple, but just beautiful. We placed 3 potted ivys on top of the blue table scarfs = and added again the blue glass "rocks". Each table held a journal that the guests were able to write inspirational good wishes to the couple. Ryan's mom and sisters contributed to this part, decorating the journals for each of the tables.
The seating area for the ring exchange ceremony turned out really nicely. Once Katherine and I figured out how we wanted to dress the backs of a few chairs on the back rows, it all came together. The white and yellow worked out beautifully against the Tipton's wonderful green lawn area. There are mum bushes just behind that white picket fencing you see in the background here - Kim and Guy said we were about a week too early - that the bushes would be filled with yellow flowers when they are in bloom. Wouldn't that have been a beautiful backdrop!
Here you can see the ceremony backdrop a little better. And, the mum bushes I mentioned. We used shepherd's hooks to mark the first couple of isles for family seating. Hanging on the first two shepherd's hooks at the first isle are little white floral wreaths holding two love birds ! What a sweet little touch I thought this was !
This is the entry to the yard. Didn't this turn out nicely? You see two kinds of fabrics here, along the sides are white sheer tab topped panels that have a white on white leaf pattern. (I found these panels in a thrift shop about a year ago shopping in Santa Rosa with Katherine = I got 8 panels for $3 - I just knew I'd use them one day !! = actually this is the second wedding reception that those panels have been used for - one panel is lost in the yard of the last reception and I have 3 panels up in one of my bedrooms....) ....if you're keeping up with the math, 4 panels were not enough here, so Tina chipped in and bought 2 white sheers that we used here across the top! The same decoration theme is used on the other side of this gate. It was a beautiful entry.
I think the whole evening turned out really nicely for the couple. Katherine, Jackie and I had a great time decorating for it - thinking for a few minutes, at least, that we might want to go into the wedding planning business !! And, if all brides and their moms were as easy to work with as Haley and Tina were, we might even seriously consider it !
