Lake County Wildflowers

I came across these Lupins on a drive back into Lakeport last week. I am always reminded of the Texas Bluebonnets when I see these along the roads here in California. If there were some Indian Paints among these, you would think for sure you were in Texas - it is a nice reminder of the Sunday drives I used to take with my family when I was a kid growing up there. Very often, we would go to my grandmother's house and all along the roadsides you'd see beautiful fields of wildflowers - it was such an array of color.
The California Poppies are also blooming now and you see these beautiful bright orange flowers all around Lake County.

Flowers at the Front

Isn't the wisteria beautiful at the front of the house ? The weather here has started to warm up and I'm anxious to get some flowers in the pots at the front...but, since I'll be gone for a week in May, I'm waiting until I get back to get going on it. Besides, there's always the chance of some late frost and I don't want to chance the flowers freezing before they get started...
